QUINNIE RIBBONS

Rising indie-folk artist quinnie has revealed the incredible bonus track from her latest album. ‘Ribbons’ is a perfectly executed exploration of acoustic folk that builds into a complex menagerie of texture and timbre. She spends the majority of the track using her unique voice to deliver memorable melodies, but allows explosive layers of harmony and instruments to pack a punch when needed. She says the track is “about being exhausted with the time and effort it takes to present feminine, and a desire to just be. I was inspired by Joni Mitchell’s ‘Carey', and the line “got me used to those clean white linens and my fancy French cologne”, considering these motifs as markers of girlhood and feminine cleanliness.” Check out her debut album, flounder, now. -Dan Peeke
